FAQs about homelifts

All our homelift or domestic lift products are compliant with British safety standards and are designed to be installed with minimal building work required. With no lift shaft or obtrusive side posts, they’re some of the most discreet models on the market and will slot into most homes with ease.

We have a variety of homelift solutions – some are passenger lifts and some are suitable for wheelchair users. They have all been designed with wheelchair or limited mobility users in mind and include sleek features to make life that little bit easier. For guidance on choosing the right lift for your home, please get in touch to arrange a free consultation or home visit.

Once you have spoken to a dedicated team member, a home assessment has been completed and you have chosen your desired type of lift, you can agree a date for your home lift to be installed. Although the area around your lift may be temporarily out of bounds, the rest of your home will be unaffected. The team will arrive with everything they will need to get the installation completed quickly and efficiently so you don’t have to worry about hiring external companies or builders to help with the fitting. For more information on the installation process, get in touch.

Our homelifts are compact and designed for residential use, allowing easy movement between floors. They operate using a motor-driven mechanism, often installed within a shaft, and can accommodate one or two passengers, depending on the model. We have four home lift models: the Cygnus homelift, the Aurora homelift, the Stratus homelift, and the Luma homelift.

Typically, a homelift can be installed within 1-2 days, sometimes 7 days, depending on the complexity of your home’s layout.

No, most homelifts are designed to fit into the existing structure with minimal modifications, often needing just a simple cut-out between floors.

Yes, modern homelifts or domestic lifts come with safety features such as emergency stop buttons, backup power, and sensors to ensure safe operation at all times.

Our home lifts generally have a weight capacity between 200kg and 300kg, sufficient for one or two people, depending on the model.

Yes, many homelifts come with customisation options, such as colours, materials, and finishes to match your home’s décor.

Regular maintenance is recommended to ensure smooth operation. Handicare provides servicing visits that include check-ups and a 24/7 365 days a year customer service line. If you are an existing customer looking to service your homelift, please get in touch or visit our existing customer page.
